Last Supper

This morning we had off to go to the beach and hang or do some island shopping. Paige and I opted to beach and that's exactly what we did. The water was crystal clear and absolutely gorgeous. I grew up right by Tybee Island and there just was no competition. My explaining it doesn't even do it justice but here are some pictures to put everything in perspective for you.

Lunch was on our own so I split a club sandwich with Paige at the hotel. I was beginning to miss food from home and this was as close as I was getting. There were 4 triangle sandwiches with ham, tomato, lettuce, mayo, ketchup, and cheese. We even got a side of chips with it!

After lunch, we would go on another hike, but we'd be returning to the island on a boat after hanging out on the beach at Carthaea. Knowing that the hike would lead to a glorious and rewarding end result, I was pretty excited for the adventure.

We made our way up to Carthaea and saw where Poseidon's temple was along with Athena's. It was interesting seeing that this is where people actually use to live. The plots that were left still had the foundation work of where building use to lay and you could see small alleyways where paths would have been. With it being at the end of the day too, it wasn't as unbearably hot which was nice. Plus, the breeze off the water was helpful too.

Finally, for supper we'd take a boat to Tziotiko Ravaisi's. Gyros and souvlaki would constitute as our meal and none of us had any complaints to that. They came out on large wooden plates that we could serve ourselves off of. You could eat the meat by itself or make it into a gyro as pita bread was also set on the table; however, not knowing that it was meant for the meal, we ate the pita with the tzatziki sauce before the meat was served.

This would mark the end of our journey overseas because tomorrow morning we'd head out to the airport and be home late tomorrow night. What a wonderful way to end the trip, but I was ready to be home!
