Kati Amo

After a long day of traveling, we finally made it to the hotel we'd be staying at in Athens- The Acropolis View Hotel. The rooms were tensy tiny but the rooftop view made up for it. Plus, we'd only be in the hotel to sleep anyways. Once everyone got their luggage into their rooms, this took a little while simply because there was only one elevator that could fit 2 people max including luggage, we just decompressed until dinner time.

Refreshed and ready to go, we headed off to Kati Amo, a small mom and pop restaurant where we would be served a variety of traditional greek cuisine. The food was brought out so quickly and only allowed for small samples that each of us could taste since we had to share two plates per each dish amongst the entire table. Everyone was fighting for food and the attention wasn't on savoring the dishes that were being brought out. Instead, we were all struggling to see what was being brought to the table and scarfing down what we had already plated to make room for the new food coming out. Trying to balance the many different dishes and having the opportunity to try them was a "fend for yourself" game.

Of the food that I remember and had the chance to taste there was the tzatziki sauce, boiled green beans, potato wedges, spinach and cheese crepes, sea bream fish, stuffed peppers, greek salad with tomatoes, feta, and cucumbers, and roasted curry chicken. Unfortunately, since arms were flailing for food, pictures weren't even able to happen. The presentation wasn't anything spectacular either, just very simple and plated as though you were eating at home. Minus our eagerness to delve in, the atmosphere was pretty tame and chill. This was a great first introduction to Greece and the food they have to offer! I was excited to taste more.
